Lingerie posts and the instagram algorithm

I've been posting on instagram for several years now . I post fashion and lingerie , particularly  aimed at the fuller bust To show what is out there for curvy /fuller busted women. I have never had any posts removed or banned ,until recently. The picture above was removed by instagram,  as they said it breeched their community guidelines  for nudity.

Obviously I was very upset about this , I was modelling this bra as part of a collaboration with a nationwide lingerie company. They specialise in non wired bras for larger cups and nursing mums. I was very angry when they removed my post without my consent  and I felt terrible for the lingerie company  I was working  for. As you can see there is nothing  sexual about this post , I'm wearing a bra with my pjama bottoms.

What made me even more angry was there was no way of me speaking to instagram and getting  my post reinstated.  I just had to accept it which made my blood boil. Particularly as I'd spent time taking the photos and making sure they were in keeping  with the companies ethics and ethos. Since then instagram seem to gave went all out to make my life on Instagram very difficult. Banning some of my posts , for various reasons that weren't  justified and even blocking  some of my followers , who were genuine. For over four weeks it was relentless I was close to giving  up.

After ranting on my page about it , I then got messages off other bloggers who posted lingerie and body positive content , that they were also suffering  from the same sort of censorship from instagram. It was actually  quite shocking  when I started speaking  to them at how sexist and against women instagram  had become.  Their algorithm  is designed to censor women , especially if they post pictures if them in feminine  items such as lingerie  or bikini's.  Obviously instagram are wary of sexual content  or people  trying to promote  sexual services , but the people  who are doing that seem to be getting  away with it. It's the people  trying to inspire , promote or who feel comfortable  with their sexuality and femininity who seem to be being  punished. This needs to change !

I post because I like to show what clothes and lingerie  look like on a real women with curves , not to be sexual. I may feel sexy in what I post but I don't want to be overtly sexual. I hope that I inspire women who are fuller busted and of a certain age. I want my page to be positive and I want women to celebrate  who we are. I have made very positive  friendships through instagram and that's what it's all about. Sharing , thoughts, ideas and finding your tribe . So come on instagram , let us do what we enjoy and bring back some of the fun !

What I will say is the company Royce lingerie were so supportive of me and sent me a lovely  message  to say how sad they were , that my post had been  taken down. They even reposted my pics and pinned them on their page , to support me. I was a bit taken back by this and it just shows that people  care.  Their post didn't get taken down , so my pics are still there which I am very proud of. Have you been hit by the instagram police ? I would  love to hear from you if you have , much love Clara xxx
