I have not long returned from a family holiday in Portugal. Its the first time we've visited Portugal and it didn't dissapoint. We stayed in a three bedroom Apartment Placid village in the area of Carvoeiro. The apartment was absolutely fantastic , so spacious and comfortable. We have three teenage boys so we were all able to feel like we had our own space and we weren't on top of each other. The apartment had air con in all the rooms a fantastic kitchen including dishwasher and washing machine. It had a flat screen TV , which shown English channels. It also featured two bathrooms one being an en suite in one of the main bedroom.
The holiday village itself was a 15 minute walk to the town of Carvoeiro and was situated in a peaceful hilltop location , set in beautiful landscaped gardens. It had a small pool area with loungers and was never crowded. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and had breakfast every morning in the small cafe area in reception. It was a continental breakfast and had a large selection of bread , pastries, cheese , meats, yoghurt, , tea , coffee , cereal , fresh fruit juices and you also got a large fresh fruit platter per family . It was a really lovely start to the day.
We were staying for ten days and we used the local taxi service to get around and about. They were reasonably priced , reliable and friendly. We downloaded the taxi app about half way through the holiday and it was so easy to use. We enjoyed exploring Carvoeiro and the surrounding area and went on several trips to the slip and slide waterpark , a pirate ship boat trip from Portimao and we explored the caves and watched the sunset at Alger Seco.
We booked the holiday as a package with easyjet holidays and I would definitely book with them again. It was a competitive price and we were pleased with their service , we even had a private transport to the airport which we were not expecting. Portugal is a very family friendly holiday destination and I would definitely recommend the area of Carvoeiro for a family friendly holiday .
